Marriage without really knowing what the Future Holds

Gilda and Stephen met at a party in college. She thought he was cute with his pink Kaleidoscope glasses. He endeared himself to her when he gave her his pink kaleidoscope glasses that first night. That’s how it started.

Fast forward six years to our initial “get to know each other” meeting. Stephen walked in and I notice he is carrying portable oxygen. He was on the waiting list for a lung transplant. As we talk about their wedding plans he was expecting to get his lung transplant completed before the wedding. That’s why they were planning the wedding many months out.

Two weeks before the wedding when I found out that the groom is still waiting for his transplant, yet everything is still a go for the wedding, and they are so excited.

It is hard for me to remember a more emotional wedding ceremony. There was not a dry eye in the house, literally. The DJ, venue person, me. Talk about a couple who truly understands living out the vows when they say in sickness and in health. I pray for a long and healthy life for them and their marriage.
